EAT UR FRUITS N' VEGGIES .
A Stuck at Home Series // 2020
For this series, a single light flash was used at different angles to achieve specific shadows around the subject matters. Each fruit and vegetable was bought with two purposes; to photograph their unique forms, colors and patterns and to then eat them afterwards. Fruits and vegetables grow with vibrant colors and various shapes and textures. With limited access to the outside world, these were beautiful subject matters to capture.
A resemblance is recognized between Edward Weston’s photographs of vegetables. Form and shape fill the image bringing texture up close to the viewer; "Cabbage Leaf", 1931. More resemblances are seen in Mauricio Alejo’s fruit still lives and with some of his simpler background used; "Apples", 2003 and "Orange", 2002.
